James Davies
Board Member
In April 2017, James Davies became Chief Executive Officer of Industry Wales (a Welsh Government arm’s-length body), to bring the voice of technology, engineering and manufacturing industry to Welsh Government and UK Stakeholders covering all sectors.
Industry Wales is also responsible for four Industry sector forums: TechnologyConnnected, Aerospace Wales Forum, Welsh Automotive Forum and Net Zero Industry Wales, charged with industry decarbonisation.
James previously worked for 32 years at CalsonicKansei (a major Automotive supplier) in the UK, Europe and Japan, leading their Thermal Management Division ($2.5bn).
James is a member of the Economic Ministerial Advisory Board in Wales and has also completed terms on the Valleys Taskforce and the Lord Burns and the South East Wales Transport Commission (SEWTC).
James was a member of the Higher Education Funding Council Wales (HEFCW) from 2018 to 2024, and sits on the Swansea Bay City Deal Economic Strategy Board; the Tech Valleys Strategic Advisory Group; and the Cardiff Capital Region Skills Partnership; and is a Board Member of Respiratory Innovation Wales.
James was born on the Gower and graduated from Swansea University (Mech Eng).
