James Davies worked for 32 years at CalsonicKansei (a major Automotive supplier) in the UK, Europe and Japan, leading their Thermal Management Division ($2.5bn).

In April 2017, James became Chair of Industry Wales (a Welsh Government arm’s-length body), to bring the voice of technology, engineering and manufacturing industry to Welsh Government and UK Stakeholders covering all sectors.

Industry Wales was responsible for four Industry sector forums: Technology Connnected, Aerospace Wales Forum, Welsh Automotive Forum and Net Zero Industry Wales, charged with industry decarbonisation.

James has been a member of the Economic Ministerial Advisory Board in Wales and has also completed terms on the Valleys Taskforce and the Lord Burns and the South East Wales Transport Commission (SEWTC).

James was a member of the Higher Education Funding Council Wales (HEFCW) from 2018 to 2024, before his Medr appointment in April 2024.

He also sits on the Swansea Bay City Deal Private Sector Advisory Board and the Tech Valleys Strategic Advisory Group and supports the Tata Regeneration Activity as well as other Neath Port Talbot Economic Regeneration activity. James was born on the Gower and graduated from Swansea University (Mech Eng)
